World map of DDoS attacks

Practical experience indicates that over the past few years there has been a significant increase of the average bandwidth of DDoS attacks against GShost.net client’s websites and services. Of course, this is partly due to our project development, but the number of attacks and their overall size are rising at a tremendous rate too.

Today, it is much easier to arrange a DDoS attack than 3 or 5 years ago. Both the rapid development of network infrastructure and the large number of available information in this subject area influenced the significant DDoS attacks cost reduce. Nowadays, the number of public hacking websites increases rapidly, attracting many different people into this malicious scope of activity. This worldwide community includes both the professionals, and the young enthusiasts, who are still not fully defined in their own aspirations and values, and ready to perform illegal actions. This contributes to the huge growth of the frequency and the average power of DDoS attacks against various websites and web portals from all over the world.

Unfortunately, year by year our service becomes more popular. That’s right, we said “unfortunately”, because today we are still being a pilot project and the commercial benefit by itself is far from our main goal. According to our observations, even the smallest web project are often being attacked. That’s why we should always take care of our information security.

Kaspersky Cyberthreat real-time map demonstrates an upward trend in cyber attacks on a global scale, showing their approximate power level and some average real-time data:
